Fair Isle knitting originates from a tiny island, often referred to as a 'tiny jewel ' which is part of the Shetland Islands in Scotland. Generations of Shetland knitters have been designing and knitting exquisite multicoloured stitch patterns of hand knitted goodness.
If you love Fair Isle knitting like we do and want to learn the techniques of colour stranded knitting, then this class is for you. Held over 4 weeks on a Monday evening, you will learn the basics, then knit a group project to cement your new found skills.
On your first week, you will learn learn the techniques of working in two colours and knit up different swatches working from a basic chart. We will supply 8ply yarn in two colours for your class swatches.
From the second to the fourth week, you will commence and work on your simple Fair Isle project, which is knitted in the round. You can purchase the pattern as well as choose from a large range of colours in Loft in store. (Note: Images for the Seasons Hat are sourced from www.brooklyntweed.com)
