Well.... if you ever wanted to learn how to Needleturn Applique then now is the perfect time!
Needleturn Applique is an applique technique where the raw edge is turned under as you are stitching to proect the edges from fraying and to define the lines of your design. This is one of the most popular methods of applique.
To build on this technique, we will also be covering Broderie Perse, where you cut out individual elements from your printed fabric and layer and stitch them to create a new design. For example, you applique some stunning floral blooms onto your fabric to create a bunch of flowers.
Josie will be running this class and will show you how to applique your blooms onto a piece of Natural 100% Linen which will be part of your kit. The kit will also include a series of floral fabrics, a spool of Aurifil 80gsm thread and needle.
This is a great opportunity to sit and stitch and learn this beautiful technique. Each piece will be unique and you will be able to use this linen in a quilt, you can make a cushion or make a beautiful drawstring bag. Josie will take you through the options.

What to bring: Fabric scissors, small snips or embroidery scissors, spool of thread for basting and any bits of floral fabric that you wish to include in your piece. Note: Bring a portable light if you need extra lighting to stitch in the evenings. |
