WOW.... This is a truly beautiful yarn with wonderful handle, lustre and drape. We have enjoyed having this yarn on our needles.
Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) is a British Breed sheep originally from Northumberland in the north of England. The breed was developed around the 18th century by a Mr Bakewell ....was he the same Mr Bakewell s the Mr Bakewell Tart man? We have absolutely no idea, but he did develop the most beautiful fibre with the Bluefaced Leicester.
Note from the designer: The BFL fibre is a long staple wool of 7-15cm and 26-27microns, resulting in a hard wearing fibre with a tendency not to pill. Combined with 45% Mulberry silk, this is a luxury yarn base and if you are looking for lustre and drape for your project, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy, Kate. x
